Akris Punto

Akris Punto

The sister brand to Akris, Akris Punto clothing is a line of everyday, easy-to-wear wardrobe items with a relaxed sportswear feel. The main line was founded in 1922 and named for Alice Kriemler-Schoch, who started the brand with polka-dot apron designs made on her home sewing machine. Akris flourished, expanding into ready-to-wear clothing, and by 1996 Akris Punto was born. In homage to Alice once again, the brand decided to celebrate their polka-dotted heritage not only through their name ("punto" means "dot" in Italian), but also by incorporating the polka dot (or Swiss dot) into every collection they release. Akris Punto dresses range from solid black to eye-catching patterns, but the cut is always sleek and elegant, a look that carries over into the skirts  and pants. Knitwear in different fabrics will see you through the seasons with ease, whether you’re looking for an understated turtleneck or a cardigan with a little more flair. Also great for layering are button downs, blazers, and jackets in an array of patterns and solids to suit an array of occasions. No matter what you pick, you can be sure that pieces from this line will reflect a modern and refined aesthetic.

Fragonard

Fragonard

A passionate dedication

It was shortly before the First World War that Eugène Fuchs, an entrepreneur at heart who had already been seduced by the magic of perfume, decided to set up his own perfumery based on the novel concept of selling perfumery products directly to the tourists who were beginning to discover the French Rivera’s charms. Parfumerie Fragonard was opened in 1926. Eugène Fuchs chose to name it after the famous Grasse-born painter, Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732-1806), as a tribute to both the town of Grasse and to the refinement of 18th-century arts. Similarly, the choice of name expressed his desire to run his business in accordance with traditions.

This spirit has been loyally perpetuated by the three succeeding generations who have run and are still running the company. At their instigation new production plants and sales outlets have opened in Grasse, Eze and also Paris.

It was under the tenure of Jean-Francois Costa that the Parfumerie Fragonard went through a rapid expansion and modernization. As an avid art collector, during the 1970’s he amassed a large and unique collection of antique perfume related items that has both enriched the Fragonard and given the town of Grasse a new cultural dimension.

Henry Dean

Henry Dean

Every Henry Dean object is created out of mouthblown and handmade glass. The use of a wooden mould is a very primitive technique to create glass objects and has to be performed by the skilled hands of real artisans. Each time this mould is used, it burns out a little bit, thus giving each object its unique, handmade character.

Applying color to glass and experimenting with different techniques separately or combined to achieve this is one of Henry Dean's main fascinations right now. You can for example apply a double layer of color in a small oven specially made for that object. Another example is pulverizing color and applying it onto a clear glass mass.

The small imperfections and bulbs you may encounter in a glass or vase are a result of the artisans working method and are a part of every object's character.
